'Every state for itself' as Premiers engage in 'cheap politics' amid latest COVID outbreak

Published on Jul 27, 2021
Sky News host Peta Credlin says she "really dislikes" the cheap politics being played by state premiers as the COVID situation in Australia has become every state for itself in an ugly version of "virus State of Origin".

Ms Credlin said amid the New South Wales outbreak, WA Premier Mark McGowan claims NSW residents are facing their "moment of truth".

Ms Credlin said Premier Daniel Andrews displayed "gold medal" standard of arrogance in "lecturing" the NSW Premier on how to contain the spread.

"As an Australian, I really dislike the whole cheap politics being played by some of the premiers at the moment, almost wallowing in the misfortune of Sydneysiders," Ms Credlin said.

"And if we can't open our borders to New South Wales, the rest of the country should at least offer help.

"After all, many of us have family and friends across the country so what affects them, affects us.

"Right now, though it would be easier to be proud of the states, if they showed just a little bit more compassion for each other and quit the political shots."
